Missio
Era and Text: Interdisciplinary Journal aims to become a leading international platform, founded by AbayUniversity (Almaty, Kazakhstan), for the publication of original interdisciplinary research integrating history, literary studies, cultural studies, linguistics, and related humanities disciplines. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge about the relationships between text, time/ history, and cultural context, creating a space for dialogue between diverse theoretical approaches and methodological traditions.
Our mission is to:
- To serve as an intellectual platform for the comprehensive study of the humanitarian past.
- To promote interdisciplinary research in the humanities through the publication of innovative work that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries.
- Ensure rapid dissemination of the highest quality research results to the international scientific community.
- To create a forum designed to become an intellectual hub where history, literature, and culture are understood through the prism of the challenges of modern science, turning them into points of growth.
- Support research diversity by publishing works by scientists from different geographic regions, representing different scientific schools and traditions.
Aims & Scope
Era and Text: Interdisciplinary Journal is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal publishing original research articles, theoretical essays, critical reviews, and methodological discussions in the fields of:
- Cultural history and intellectual heritage: the evolution of ideas through the prism of written traditions.
- Historical source and textual criticism: analysis of literary and documentary texts as historical artifacts.
- Digital humanities and textual criticism.
- Comparative studies: intercultural dialogue between Eastern and Western historical-philological schools.
- Literary theory and critical approaches (poststructuralism, deconstruction, new historicism, feminist criticism, postcolonial theory).
- Interaction of history, literature and other arts (cinema, theatre, visual arts).
- Historical poetics and the evolution of literary forms.
- Neurohumanitarian approaches to historical and literary material.
- History of literary ideas and intellectual history.
- Reception of classical and modern historical and literary texts.
Interdisciplinary focus:
The journal particularly welcomes research that combines historical and literary analysis with methods from other disciplines: philosophy, anthropology, sociology, psychology, linguistics, as well as work that explores cultural processes through the prism of textual analysis.
Geographic and temporal coverage:
The journal publishes studies of the history, literature, and culture of all geographic regions and historical periods, from antiquity to the present, with particular attention to comparative and transnational perspectives.
